YouTube Told To Take Down Over 20,000 Songs

Global Music Rights music lawyer Irving Azoff is the manager over the performance rights of over 20,000 songs for Pharrell Williams and numerous other artists. The records handle by ASCAP and BMI, Irving informed YouTube that they don't have the performance rights to stream these tracks. He has ordered the takedown of these song or they will face a $1 billion dollar lawsuit. YouTube has been vague about the situation by withholding information about the expiration date of licensing to play the records. Attorney Howard King for GMR wrote a letter to YouTube stating the fact that they refuse to cooperate in negotiations for licensing. Despite the threats of being sued, YouTube still hasn't budged. We'll wait to see if GMR will indeed sue the company or not.
