Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, will now be independently directing Nike's board of members after 5 years of service. Phil Knight, the founder of Nike, announced his retirement Tuesday. This is first time the company has operated without him since its creation in 1964. Current President/CEO of Nike, Mark Parker, is slated to take over as chairman of the board. Cook will be advising them in order to provide different leadership opinions as the chairman, CEO, and President of the company are all the same person.
