According to Manhattan's district attorney, a new approach will be used when addressing public drinking. The NYPD will no longer arrest people who drink in public, as long as they don't pose a threat. The new policy will have the NYPD issuing summons if they feel necessary, as opposed to an offense going towards a criminal record. For more information regarding this news, click here.
