When I discovered Aquil, the first thing that went through my mind was that his music was dope as hell; I knew I needed to let y’all know about it. I’m sure you viewers out there will feel the same way. Be on the look out for his mixtape, coming soon to an illRoots post near you.
The new format, which has a file extension format of MT9 and a commercial title of Music 2.0, is poised to replace the popular MP3 file format as the de facto standard of the digital music source.
This is the second installment in “The Future Of…” series of posts that I will be making. This particular post is showcasing a new music format that goes by the name of MT9. The thing that is so special about this new format is that it features a six channel Audio Equalizer with each channel dedicated to separate instruments. What this means is you can dictate how loud each channel is, or if it is even present at all. So if you like the beat, but hate the lyrics, you can mute the voice channel. If you are a DJ, MT9’s will make it a lot easier to mix seperate tracks together.
“Lots of people believe that the kind of stuff I’m doing should be underground — that it validates your art to not be able to live off it, But I think what we’re doing belongs in the mainstream. Let the stupid stuff be underground.”
I was starting to wonder when they were going to release some more info. This is obviously for there album Getback, Which is being released September 25th. I like this cover. Its got an EPMD feel to it.
This dude is dope. Producer Ceaser is fresh outta Italy. He dropped a Jay-Z & Biggie mixtape last year, but this joint he has out now is on another level. It’s called ‘Definition Of Empire’ and its all his own beats blended with the entire roster of Def Jam. It’s also hosted by The Butcher himself DJ Vlad. I first heard about Ceasar a little while ago. I slept on his first tape, but after seeing the track ‘New Jersey Drive’ pop up on peoples mixtapes and on AllHipHop, I knew I had to check him out. On that specific track, he blended Redman and Joe Budden, two of Jersey’s finest together on his own beat. The beat was so sick that I at first was astonished by the whole thing. He is so versatile on his tape that he seemlessy can go from a Jay-Z and Young Jeezy track over to a Ne-Yo blend without any weak points. Big Chew from Rapmullet gave his tape a 3 out of 4 rating, so you know its something serious. I was able to catch up with him and really get down to the nitty gritty on what makes Ceasar tick.
We at illRoots came up with the idea to expose some of the most talented up and coming artists we could find. Every other week, starting today, we will feature a new artist. Each featured artist is interviewed by either myself or kinggs, and we will then post some audio of why they are so freakin’ good so you can see for yourself.
The first artist that we have featured is a young, very talented, British R&B singer by the name of Kojo Best aka Enké. I discovered this musician on YouTube, one of my favorite websites. I was searching for some Gnarls Barkley, and came across Kojo’s version of Crazy. Instantly I was like “WOW! This dude can sing!”. Intruiged, I went to his channel and watched another video. Just as good, if not better. An hour later, I found my self still watching all of his videos. Boasting a proud 60+ video’s, Kojo is obviously a very enthusiastic musician, open to any and all tips or feedback.
A few days later, I contacted him regarding being featured and interviewed on illRoots, and he was just as excited as I was. We talked for almost an hour straight, constantly falling off topic and just discussing the wonderful world of music. I now give you our interview in most of its entireity.
