WTF. how the hell did NaS f*&k up Hip Hop. he’s the best thing that ever happened to hip hop. soulja boy really thinks that NaS regreted Hip Hop is Dead. give me a break. there was a story behind it. soulja boy is not close to NaS’ talent or eazy e or any of the guys from NWA. soulja boy was in dippers when NaS started coming out with albums.

I don’t think Nas would even give this the time of day
Album sales got fucked up by ringtones, radio, and people downloading music
ie Soulja Boy
Nas created a new way of expression that had rappers stepping their game up
But Nas isn’t the first one to express the death of hip hop
Andre 3000, Talib, and Common surely have expressed well before Nas made it a staple
I just think this is ridiculous for Soulja Boy to come at one the best MC’s of all time

hiphop is like jazz – still alive in academic circles, but really only alive in the form of debate. as a movement, though, it’s over. all movements end the minute they get co-opted by the establishment. there will be no more fighting the power, or fucking the police. at least not by hiphoppers. hiphop may not be officially dead until “new york state of mind” is the official themesong for NYS dept of tourism, but it’s pretty much there. when number of records sold determines an artist’s dopeness, well, that’s the end.

here’s to the next genre. may it be blamed for as much violence and stupidity as hiphop was!
