illRoots.com: Who gives a fuck about Phil Nash?

    Phil: My mom.

illRoots.com: Ahhh, spectacular. How did you get the name Phil Nash?

Phil: Phil is my real name, but the Nash part is something I took from the movie A Beautiful Mind, “John Nash.”

illRoots.com: So the first tape you bought was…

Phil: MC Hammer’s “2 Legit to Quit.” Cousins used to make fun of me cuz they listened to Spice 1 and NWA. I’m a young buck man.

illRoots.com: Wow, MC Hammer, you had the pants too…. you had the pants didn’t you…

Phil: No, but I wanted the action figure bad as hell!

illRoots.com: You breakdancing, backflipping, motorboating son of a bitch you. You know you don’t have to lie, I know you had the pants.

Phil: [Laughs] And I used to watch the cartoon.

    illRoots.com: Word.

    Phil: [Laughs]

illRoots.com: The cartoon was the greatest.

    Phil: I know.

illRoots.com: But Phil one song to sum up your whole life?

Phil: “Closer.” It’s produced by DJ Jazzy Jeff.

illRoots.com: Not a song you’ve written, thats cheating.

Phil: Oh, the whole Slim Shady LP. I can’t choose one song, but I feel the closest to that album, don’t ask why. Eminem created a twisted world and allowed you to live and see what this world was. I saw that world because in a lot of ways I’m from that same kind of place.

illRoots.com: In a time when CD sales are down, what are you going to do to really market your product?

Phil: My relationship with my audience is more personal than most. I’m a showman. I don’t rap, I perform. People will support me by coming out and enjoying me as an emcee. Also the internet, My audience spends more than half of their lives online I plan on having a strong online presence.Starting with illroots.

illRoots.com: Okay your views on Shawn Bell and our entire society as a whole?

Phil: Thats just another W for the suits. Our society really doesn’t even talk about it. The only reason I know about Shawn Bell is because of the internet. I have not had one in person conversation talk about Shawn Bell and thats bad.Well …. maybe once i did. My peers are too focused on “getting money” to worry about lil’ ole Shawn bell. Our generation won’t stand up for our generation. Our motto is,”Better him than me”

illRoots.com: You know thats the truest statement I’ve heard Thats our motto as a people nowadays I hear more about older people putting together organizations and things. But to lighten this up a bit like Larry King to Mtv Jams

    Phil: ???

illRoots.com: Explanation - Larry King = serious. MTV Jams is a joke.

    Phil: He’s on there?

    illRoots.com: No. Follow me

    Phil: Ok

illRoots.com: Larry King is SERIOUS as fuck, right?

    Phil: Yea

illRoots.com: MTV Jams and the constant barrage of futuristic yet overly pathetic bullshit that we somehow call creative new hip hop is a joke.

Phil: I have no problem with this fast food hip-hop.

    illRoots.com: I don’t either.

Phil: You just can’t eat McDonald’s everyday, ya dig?

illRoots.com: True. It makes us shine alot bigger I guess.

Phil: True it’s a time and place for it though.

illRoots.com: It actually gives us balance, 08 is the golden era, the beginning

    Phil: Phil of the Future!!!!!!!

    Hearbeart: Whats up?

    Phil: Yo

illRoots.com: So Bryant has joined the chat welcome to the interview. [Laughs]

    Heartbeat : [Laughs] Bet. What’s good ?

illRoots.com: So Heartbeat you worked with Phil on this new project and have been working with Phil on several projects explain to us the difference between phil and everyone else?

    Heartbeat: Talent

    Phil: Wow

Heartbeat: Thats the one thing he has that everyone else lacks that and ambition. You should have seen him at the Lupe concert….getting his name out but thats a different story. [Laughs]

    Phil: That is another story.

    illRoots.com: Whoa.

    Heartbeat: [Laughs]

illRoots.com: Whole can of worms just opened do tell I’m all ears

    Phil: nothing serious

illRoots.com: [Laughs] It was just a story making connects by any means necessary.

Phil: I was supposed to open up for lupe, but it was revoked

    illRoots.com: Revoked? Wow.

Heartbeat: Yea I’m still a little bitter about that one

illRoots.com: I mean there has to be a reason for everything

Phil: University of Delaware. Took it because 2 hiphop acts opening for Musiq SoulChild was too raw, for the venue

    illRoots.com: What.

Phil: But they should’ve going with me.

illRoots.com: Wow thats a cop out

Heartbeat: the opening act was a lil lacking but im not to judge tho.

Phil: They were good. I think the pressure got to the. I perform better under pressure.

illRoots.com: Okay that was boring ass story. No seriously

    Phil: [Laugh]

illRoots.com: Quite possibly. The most boring story I’ve heard in the last 2 days

    Heartbeat: [Laughs]

illRoots.com: Okay fellas. I have a story for you

Heartbeat: Hey man thats my life [Laughs]

illRoots.com: So I was on my way to the bathroom and I sat down and wow. What do you say, no TP.So I run downstairs , grab the TP and run back upstairs and take a shit, wow…craziness.

    Heartbeat: Too Much Information.[Laughs]

    Phil: [Laughs]

illRoots.com: [Laughs] I am posting all of this, every last nugget ….of information

    Phil: Nugget….[Laughs]

illRoots.com: Yea the metaphor, I’m good for at least 2

    Heartbeat: O god

illRoots.com: You have one redeemable, it’ll come wait you’ll see

    Phil: [Laughs]

illRoots.com: Phil…why Phil of the future?

Phil: This girl used to call me that and I hated it. After that corney ass kids show. Then I said it on a track once and ran with it. Plus I’m the future

illRoots.com: Okay,Heartbeat and Phil What is important about Hip-Hop to each of your lifes?

Phil: It’s the only thing that I do that makes me happy and is productive at the same time

    Heartbeat: that creativity never stops

    Phil: and what he said

    Hearbeat: and to teach

illRoots.com: so HB your passing your values on to the next generation?
Heartbeat: Something like that thats my overall goal

illRoots.com: I’m scared for my children

    Heartbeat: [Laughs]

illRoots.com: No seriously, there virgin ears will never reach the headphones all thanks to you.

Heartbeart: Nah basically i plan to teach and be a philantropist and teach don’t worry I’ll baby sit they will be ok no MJ

    illRoots.com: Whoa no MJ

    Heartbeat: haha

illRoots.com: Is that some new type of BJ your sick [Laughs]

Heartbeat: It seemed appropiate because I don’t think I’ll ever use that again, whoa Rated G hallway [Laughs]

illRoots.com: I’m kidding, jokes and jokes and spaghetti

    Phil: [Laughs]

illRoots.com: Phil see how worried he got such a rapist. You know those are rapist tendencies.

Phil: Do I come to to ur job and take the dick outta ur mouth?

    Heartbeat: O god

    illRoots.com: What?

    Heartbeat: Um pause…….

illRoots.com: Dick out of who’s what. Okay …… so Heartbeat how about them Phillies……

    Phil: [Laughs]

    illRoots.com: …………

    Heartbeat: ……..

    Phil: Jokes and jokes

illRoots.com: Oh yea and spaghetti don’t forget that part i l love spaghetti but serious… mmmm

Heartbeat: O man yall are funny

illRoots.com: What label would you sign too any time period?

    Heart: Motown

Phil: Granted that I get a deal with petroleum…. it’d be Def Jam

    illRoots.com: Okay why?

    Heartbeat: Motown has longevity

Phil: Def Jam is Hip-Hop, and you said at any time period.
